What is mental health?

Mental health is the base of our modern society.

According to the World Health Organization "Good Mental health is a state of mental well-being that enables people to cope with the stresses of life, realize their abilities, learn well and work well, and contribute to their community. It is an integral component of health and well-being that underpins our individual and collective abilities to make decisions, build relationships and shape the world we live in. Mental health is a basic human right. And it is crucial to personal, community and socio-economic development."

Therefore, it is fair to assume that this basic element is something we, as humans, should take care of, because our proper functioning is based off this key element and how we treat ourselves. Nowadays we live in a world where efficiency is key and producing is mandatory in order to be someone, so paying attention to our internal problems is not profitable or useful, leading to stigma and mystery built around people with mental afflictions and when someone experiences a mental limitation or struggle it makes them wonder if there is something wrong with them and if living is really worth it. Also, we must understand that part of being human beings is feeling and having emotions we most likely don´t understand without building proper emotional management skills, which allow us to understand if there is something wrong with our mental health and physical wellbeing.

This is why our team has decided to focus on the effects that some life activities have on the functioning of our minds, as our relationships with others and our daily achievements can cause both mental afflictions or strong emotions that need to be managed and acknowledged to ensure healthy and successful personal and interpersonal relationships.

In general, we want to explain how people should pay attention to themselves and their development or performance in real-life activities and events that require emotional maturity for them to grow personally, build their character and help them understand their own minds and processes.
